Silverwood is so much more than rollercoasters and waterslides. While the thrill rides get all the attention (and don’t get me wrong, they’re great!!), there are also a handful of peaceful, tucked-away spots that make the day feel even more magical (and enjoyable!). Here are five lesser-known places you’ll want to explore on your next visit to Silverwood:
The Meadow This wide-open, grassy area is located near the Puppy-Go-Round in Critter Camp and is the perfect spot to settle in for lunch. Whether you brought a lunch from home or bought something in the park, the meadow is a quiet (usually empty) place to take a break. The kids can also run around wild and crazy, which can be a much-needed pause in the middle of an action-packed day (for everyone!)
Pro Tip: Kidz Kafe is right next to the meadow, and they have great kid-focused lunchboxes! Inside a cute souvenir lunchbox, you’ll find all the kid favorites: a PB&J sandwich, fruit snacks, crackers, and more!
High Moon Saloon + Marvin the Moose Show Need a midday cool-down? Head inside the High Moon Saloon for lunch and stay for the Marvin show. Marvin is an animatronic moose who leads a silly sing-along alongside his talking elk and bison pals. It’s cheesy, it’s fun, and it’s air-conditioned. (And when ordering lunch, don’t skip the Monte Cristo panini OR the Bavarian pretzel sticks with sweet and spicy mustard. Those are two of my favorite items in the park!
The Arcade Right next to the famous Ice Creamery, the arcade is a hidden gem packed with classic games. From Skee-Ball to racing games, it’s a great stop when you need a break from the sun (or if you’re waiting for a little rain to pass!) Almost all of the games give out tickets that can be turned in for fun prizes at the end.
Melvin’s Mine This is is a sneaky one and easily one of the best-kept secrets in the park. Tucked next to the Tree House in Critter Camp, Melvin’s Mine lets kids (and adults!) dig and sift to find semi-precious stones with a sieve. It’s interactive, quiet, and a great hands-on activity when everyone needs to slow down.
Victorian Coffee House You’ve probably seen the giant chess board and pieces outside of this one…but most people just hustle by on their way to Boulder Beach! Located just outside the entrance to Boulder Beach, this adorable house and porch setup offer reprieve (and caffeine!) during the busy day. They have excellent coffee and smoothies. You can grab a drink inside and rest for a bit in the AC OR maybe grab it on the way as you’re walking from the park into Boulder Beach!
Add one or two of these to your next Silverwood itinerary to switch it up and try something new! Sometimes the best memories come from the quiet areas – especially during a chaotic, fun day.
