I am a very blessed mom, but I am also a very blessed wife. Charley and I have been married for 13 years, they say time flies when you’re having fun. That saying holds true because it does not feel like it has been that long! Between running our own businesses and raising 5 kids, sometimes it can be hard to find that alone time to focus on each other. Over the years, we have always made it a priority to find activities we most enjoy doing together – which usually involves watching our favorite shows together or watching stand-up comedy. We do try to go out- just the two of us- as often as our schedule will allow. Some months we get more date nights than others, but for us, sometimes it’s okay to value quality over quantity.
Last week, we decided to have a date together at Silverwood and find some rides where we could get in some cuddle time to relax and enjoy being in each others company. We waited to enjoy the park until after 5 pm just so it was a little cooler outside. Sometimes those hot summer days in Idaho can be draining! Did you know that after 4 pm you can get a discounted ticket at the gate? Another perk to making a late afternoon trip to Silverwood! Of course, we took every chance we could to get in some selfie moments for our scrapbooks and Silverwood has some great photo op spots!
Our first stop was to the magic show – neither one of us has ever seen the magic show, so we snuggled up together and watched the mesmerizing illusions. You can find Nick Norton performing all summer at Silverwood and he is also performing his award-winning show “Phantasm” at the Fox Theater in November.
After the amazement of the magic show we headed over to one of my favorite rides, the Scrambler. That ride always makes me giggle uncontrollably! It was great to squish in with my hubby and laugh together.
We grabbed dinner at Lindys, our favorite restaurant in Silverwood. I love being able to enjoy a meal that is prepared for me and I don’t have to do dishes! Every once in awhile it is so refreshing to break out of our normal schedules and go be silly and laugh together. Between the rides and yummy snacks, having a date night at Silverwood is one of our new favorite things we can do together! Also, my hubby and I love the chance to act like kids again!
My favorite memory from our date at Silverwood is being able to belly laugh together on a ride and then laugh at each about how much we laughed on the ride. That’s how you know you’re having a good time! We also took a break from the excitement of the rides to hold hands and appreciate the scenery within the park. The landscaping is part of what makes Silverwood so special (and romantic). While we may not be able to handle the rollercoasters as much as we did when we were “younger”, we had a blast together doing something a little different than our normal date nights. Plus, who doesn’t love a reason to enjoy some funnel cake with the one you love!

My wife rocks!
So I will tell you, gentlemen, if you want to take your wife out for a nice time and do something different from the norm, Silverwood is definitely the place to go. Even if you’re not the kind of guy that wants to ride every roller coaster out there, there is something fun at Silverwood for everyone. My favorite ride with my honey is the scrambler. After the Scrambler, definitely check out the Tilt A Whirl, the Log Ride, and driving the old-time cars. Also, we had a blast just walking around the park, it’s a great way to get in some quality time. Then try your hand at some of the carnival games to win her a big teddy bear or other plush animals. The games are inexpensive and fun to play or if you are a competitive couple, challenge each other at a few games! And even if you can’t win a bear, run over the ring toss where every game you win a flower. Don’t forget to stop by the creamery and enjoy a big scoop of ice cream and of course take some time to cuddle up together during the magic show. The illusions they have in there are amazing!

I have never been to a place like this. The closest thing would be a small town fair rides. Love going to Silverwood with my kiddos and friends. From when you walk in we are received with lots of love and everyone is lovely in there and of course love the rides our favorite one is Innertube With the kids.
