This summer, my daughter Hannah decided she wanted to celebrate her 6th birthday at Silverwood, and really, how could I say no? You only turn six once! Plus, no decorations to hang or messes to clean up afterward made it a win for both of us.
We decided to keep it a surprise and invited the grandparents up for their first-ever Silverwood adventure. They live out of state, so most of our time together is over FaceTime. This was a chance to make some real memories together as a family.
We kicked things off with a pancake feast at home, surrounded by family and friends. Then came presents and yes, cupcakes at 10 a.m. because why not?
Afterward, we headed to the park and made sure she was wearing the most important things: her birthday crown and badge. It let all the employees and guests know exactly whose special day it was.
As soon as we arrived at the gates, we were stopped by employees who stood up and got everyone around to sing her ‘Happy Birthday.’ Let’s just say, nothing brings out the shy smile of a six-year-old like a whole crowd singing just for her.
After a few rides, we needed to refuel with another treat, so in came the funnel cakes! She wanted to have her very own, which was no problem since it was before 5 p.m. and the best time to grab one is when the deals are hot.
With bellies full of Fruitfetti funnel cake, we boarded the Silverwood train for a relaxing ride and a surprise Wild West robbery. But before the action started, the entertainment staff spotted her birthday badge and gave her a shoutout. The train leader gathered everyone’s attention and, once again, the whole car broke into a round of ‘Happy Birthday’ just for her.
As the mock robbery unfolded and the bandits stirred up trouble, one of the outlaws caught sight of her birthday crown and badge. Before he was “locked up,” he tipped his hat, gave her a smile, and offered a hearty “Happy Birthday!” as his parting words to the crowd. It was the perfect blend of Wild West fun and birthday magic.
