When our first two kids were babies, we waited until they were old enough to at least go on a few rides before bringing them to Silverwood. Since having our third in December, we knew he would be attending our trips at a much younger age than his siblings. A few things to remember when bringing an infant to Silverwood:
I personally love my backpack diaper bag. They are great for keeping your arms and hands free which we all need when carrying babies and chasing kids around.
Speaking of carrying babies, a good baby carrier is an absolute must. If you have a velcro baby like I do, they prefer to be carried through the park so having a good carrier can save your arms.
Pack more diapers than you think you need. I like to bring at least one diaper per hour that we plan on being at the park.
A long sleeve swimsuit, a swim hat and swim diapers. I have learned that a long sleeve swim top for babies is much easier than trying to cover them in sunscreen, same goes for the swim hat. If you happen to forget any of the things you need for boulder beach, you can find them in the shop as you enter. They have a wall of adorable swimsuits in infant sizes. They even have sets you can buy that have the long sleeves, bottoms and the swim hat in one. If you need a swim diaper, they have them behind the counter in multiple sizes and a couple different brands.
When packing for kids of any age, my main goal is to make life as breezy as possible. Sunscreen in either stick or powder form are absolute game changers when it comes to putting sunscreen on kiddos, especially during long days at the water park when it seems we’re reapplying constantly.
One thing I didn’t realize about Silverwood is just how much shade there is. When you have a baby strapped to you a shady spot is key. Just before you get to the pizzeria, there is a huge shaded area. It’s an awesome spot to sit and take a break if you’re in between going on rides and heading to the water park. Another place to sit and relax is the tiny tree house, there is a covered area where you have a perfect view of your kids playing.
Did you know the train has a few trips that don’t have a robbery? It’s the perfect thing to do when your baby is napping and it’s typically less busy. The baby can sleep and you can enjoy a nice ride!
The best place to sit when you’re in Boulder Beach? I have a couple favorites;
The salmon run is PERFECT if you have young kids and a baby. The salmon run is all slides for kids. I found a lounge chair for me and the baby to sit at while the older kids went down as many slides as they could.
Another great spot is the Lazy River. Grab a tube and float with your baby sitting on your lap.
Taking a baby to an amusement park is more than doable, I recently went to Silverwood with just myself and my three young kids (6,4 and 6 months.) We had an absolute blast, the one thing I wish I would have brought is an extra set of hands.
ABOUT THE CONDUCTOR
My name is Kelsi. I’m a 28 year stay at home mom to 3 kids! (6,4&3 months). I spend most of my days outside in the summer and make at least one trip to Silverwood every year and usually one to Scarywood as well. The first time I remember going to Silverwood I was 8 (i think) so at least 20 years! My husband and I got married in 2016 and had our Daughter in 2018, (she rode her first big roller coaster at Silverwood last year!) in 2021 we had our son, his first trip to Silverwood was last year and he loved going on all the kid coasters. We just recently had our 3rd baby the day after Christmas and look forward to bringing him to Silverwood this summer!
