Summer is all about having fun, spending time outdoors, and creating family memories that will last a lifetime. One of our family’s favorite summer activities is going to Silverwood Theme Park and Boulder Beach Water Park! Our kids are 19 and 16, and we have been making memories at Silverwood as a family since our oldest was just 4 months old! Our adventures have changed a bit over the years, but our love for going hasn’t!

When my kids were growing up, I was a stay-at-home mom and did everything I could to help stretch our budget by shopping clearance and couponing so that we could still do all the fun things we wanted our children to experience growing up. As a result, I started a frugal blog to share my finds, and it simply became a way of life!

Here are my frugal tips for you while enjoying your time at Silverwood and Boulder Beach!

PARKING

Parking used to be $5 per vehicle, or free for season pass holders. However, in light of the current pandemic this year… PARKING IS FREE for everyone! After you have parked, be sure to check the sign on the nearest light post (ex. Tremors) so that you can easily find your vehicle after a fun-filled day in the park!

PURCHASE TICKETS ONLINE

You can save up to $15 by purchasing your tickets online! There are 1 day, 2 day, and 3 day flexible reservation ticket options available. With the purchase of these tickets, you WILL be able to change the date of your visit, as long as there are tickets available. You can either print your tickets at home or send them to your phone.

SEASON PASSES

If you live close to the park, I highly recommend purchasing season passes! As season pass holders for more than 10 years, trust me… it’s 110% worth every penny! Not only do you get unlimited access to Silverwood and Boulder Beach, you also receive some awesome additional benefits. You get 10% discount at all food and retail locations (excludes alcohol) and a 10% discount at the RV Park!

Your pass will actually pay for itself in less than 4 visits! How cool is that!? Plus, you don’t have to feel like you have to stay all day long to “get your money worth!” When our kids were young, we would go for 2 – 3 hours and then go home. We did this a couple days a week, all summer long! It was perfect!

FOOD

Many park guests may not know this, but you can bring in a small, soft-sided 12 inch cooler with small snacks. This is especially helpful if you have small children that need snacks every time you turn around! You can also bring in factory sealed, non-alcoholic beverages or empty plastic water bottles.

Funnel Cakes are only $5 before 5 pm! You can save up to $2.50 depending on which kind you get! Oh my goodness… they are so delicious and they are big enough to share! My husband, 16 year-old daughter and I all shared one and we were all full by the time we finished!

Remember… if you are a season pass holder, you also receive a 10% discount at all food and retail locations (excludes alcohol)!

SOUVENIR CUPS

For under $10 you can buy a colorful, reusable souvenir sports bottle. The day or purchase, you get FREE refills all day long! Any visit after that, you can have them re-filled with the fountain drink drink of your choice for just 99 cents! It’s a great deal no matter how you look at it. Plus, we LOVE our cups and use them all the time! One of the cups we have is 17 years old, we bought it the summer our son was 1 1/2.

FREE TO USE

Some tubes are free of charge for use on the Lazy River and Rumble Falls. There are also life jackets that can be found throughout Boulder Beach, typically near both wave pools. Of course, these tubes and life jackets are first-come, first-serve. In all of our years of going, I have never had an issue getting them for our family to use!

ONE PRICE = TWO PARKS

Your admission price covers entry into both Silverwood Theme Park and the Boulder Beach Water Park! Enjoy everything there is and then some!

I promise you that no matter how many times you go to Silverwood Theme Park or Boulder Beach Water Park, you are going to have FUN! There is something fun and exciting to do for every member in your family, no matter what their age!

Meet The Conductor

Hello! My name is Bridget Axtell. My husband and I were both born & raised in Idaho and wouldn’t want to love anywhere else. We have two amazing children, (ages 16 and 19) and 3 mastiff’s! We have been enjoying Silverwood as a family for 18 years, but my first experience at was the airshow back in the late 80’s! The thing we love most about Silverwood is that there is something for EVERYONE to enjoy! Our family loves everything about visiting the park and am not sure what we would say is our favorite ride or attraction… but you absolutely MUST visit the Ice Creamery and have a waffle cone! I’ve always been a frugal Mom, so 10 years ago I started my blog Being Frugal and Making It Work, so I could share frugal deals, tips, tricks and even giveaways!

I was thinking about going for my birthday (Monday), would you recommend a one or two day ticket for our first time going?
We live about 4 hours away so we will have to get a hotel.

    • Stephanie Sampson . August 11, 2020 . Reply

Hi Ellen! We recommend purchasing our 2 day ticket in order to experience everything we have to offer. Based on feedback, our guests can easily spend a whole day in the water park and a whole day on the theme park side. Please let me know of any additional questions I can answer about your upcoming trip!
